We didn’t ask for a seat at the table. We ran for one.
In the 2024 British Columbia general election, MSFR’s founder stood on the ballot in Surrey–Guildford — the most pivotal riding in the province, and the seat that decided whether B.C. would have a majority government.

- Why it mattered
- The seat was decided by just 22 votes after a court-ordered judicial recount — and with it, the province’s majority government. Of all 93 ridings, this was the one that tipped the balance of power.
Why we ran

For the table.
MSFR’s founder, Kabir Qurban, is a secondary-school teacher, a human-rights advocate, and an award-winning film producer — and the person who put his name on the ballot.
He ran as an Independent, unbound by party lines, after watching the systems he worked inside fall short. It was never about winning a single seat. It was proof that Muslims belong in the rooms where decisions get made — and a refusal to wait for an invitation to enter them.
The work continues regardless of the result. That is the whole point.
